... and this is in the middle of the mountains of Salzburg. Embedded in the so called "Pinzgau", one of the most alpine regions of the Salzburger Land. The "Glemmvalley" stretches out from east to west. At the beginning of the valley there is the village of Maishofen - an important waypoint at your arrival - here you leave the main road and turn into the Glemmvalley - your holidays straight ahead.
The region around Saalbach Hinterglemm is characterized by rural and beautyful mountains-scenery. In the north-west there are the so called "Stonemountains" like the Wilder Kaiser, the Loferer Steinberge, the Leoganger Steinberge, up to the famous Hochkönig. In the south of the Glemmvalley you can see the Hohe Tauern with there "more than thirty peaks over 3.000 meters". There is also the national park Hohe Tauern, with its world of snow and ice.
The Glemmvalley has been famous for its "skicircus" for many years - our guests find a huge variety of winter-sport-possibilities there. For more than one decade now, the Glemmvalley is also famous as the so called Bike Circus. Every year a huge number of bikers from all over the world come to Saalbach Hinterglemm for our amazing trails, feeride-tracks and downhill-lines. Arrival per car
Coming from east Austria take the west-highway to Salzburg. From there you have two possibilities.
- Leave the highway in Wals-Lofer, Bad Reichenhall, Lofer - Zell am See, Saalfelden, Maishofen, Saalbach Hinterglemm
- Via the "Tauernautobahn A 10" direction Villach, exit Bischofshofen, B 311 to Zell am See, Maishofen, Saalbach Hintergelmm
If you come from Germany and do not want to buy an Austrian highways sticker, than take the following way:
- Highway Munich - Salzburg (A 8) until the exit Siegsdorf
- direction Inzell
- Exit Lofer
- Saalfelden und go on in direction Zell am See
- In Maishofen you will find the exit to Saalbach Hinterglemm
- only 14 km to go to Saalbach Hinterglemm
For your arrival from Italy, Slowenia and Croatia it's the best to take the Tauernautobahn.

- In Bischofshofen take the "Pinzgauer Bundesstraße" B 311
- Zell am See - Maishofen
- Exit Glemmtal and it is time for Saalbach Hinterglemm
Arrival per train
Arrival per train is even more uncomplicated. You just travel to the main station in Zell am See and you are almost there. From there it is the best solution to organise a transfer bus or taxi shuttle to Saalbach Hinterglemm. Out team is more than happy to help you with that.
Arrival per plane
If you arrive per plane, you do best, if you fly to Salzburg airport. From there you either take the train or we organize a shuttle service to Saalbach Hinterglemm.
